I got a call this morning from Brayden's school nurse. She wanted to check and make sure Brayden was doing okay. The nurse was concerned because he was literally looking blue.
Do not adjust the color on your screen. His feet and hands are this color...blue/purple.
Some days he does not have proper circulation. It is like his brain does not seem to be telling his body to get blood to his hands and feet. Then when it does, it seems to over compensate and pump so much blood that his hands or feet get really swollen and red.
It never looks good and it always concerns people (especially random strangers in stores who like to offer their insight). We try to rub his hands and feet to help. It is not about him being cold or hot. Without any known cause he has days when he is fine and others he may be purple or red. We have talked to all of his doctors about this and they have yet to offer any insight.

harvey had this too, we were told it was neurological ( isn't that the answer to everything!) that his brain did not have the ability to regulate circulation, temperature etc . its a very pretty color though xxx
Oia has the same problem from time to time with her more affected side, being her right hand and right foot. Her right foot is always puffy and swollen and her right fingers have been purplish after a nap or some inactivity. The color bounces back fairly quickly but the puffy foot is just a part of her. We massage her foot daily but other than that we don't know what else to do. No answers from therapists or doctors, just one of those things par for the course in the cp world. A circulation problem I guess...it can be worrisome though.
WOW! That certainly is purple! Gavin has this happen to him a lot in his legs, but it's usually due to some sort of actual constriction. Our kiddos like to keep us on our toes, don't they?! HUGS!!!
I cannot believe how dark it gets! I can see why others would be concerned, but I never have figured out why strangers insist on sharing their wisdom.
It makes me wonder how his feet and hands feel when they get like this - don't you wish he could tell you?
